Commercial Solar and Battery Systems Built for Brisbane

Brisbane enjoys some of the best sunshine of any Australian capital, which makes paying full price for grid power all the more painful. The hottest afternoons are also when air conditioning, refrigeration and demand charges peak, so a site without its own solar and storage pays the most exactly when it can least afford to.

Since 2012 we have designed and installed commercial solar and battery systems right across Queensland, from Brisbane's southside industrial belt to the Gold Coast corridor and as far north as Cairns.

The Southside Industrial Belt

Salisbury, Acacia Ridge, Rocklea and Coopers Plains are home to processing plants, commercial laundries, food manufacturers and engineering workshops that run hard all day under large roofs. They are some of the best-suited sites in the city for commercial solar, and a battery helps flatten the afternoon peaks when cooling loads climb.

In Salisbury, Alsco Uniforms chose us for a 400kW system at its processing facility, its fifth solar installation. The system meets 72 to 75% of the site's energy demand even in winter and has cut Scope 2 emissions by 55%. It was not a simple roof: the facility spans two property titles, each with its own energy provider and meter, and had just been through a transformer upgrade, so we coordinated across every stakeholder to bring it together.

The Brisbane to Gold Coast Corridor and Ipswich

The M1 corridor through Logan to Yatala is one of Queensland's busiest manufacturing and distribution zones, full of large sheds running long hours. Carlton & United Breweries' Yatala brewery hosts one of the largest rooftop solar systems in Australia, and together with CUB's Wulkuraka brewery near Ipswich it forms part of a three-site PPA that we own, operate and maintain, with no upfront cost to CUB.

Shopping Centres, Retail and Clubs

Queensland shopping centres and clubs have big roofs, even bigger car parks and long trading hours, which makes them natural candidates for solar and solar car shades. In Brisbane's north, we built a 220kW solar car shade with two EV chargers at Capestone Village for Vecchio Property Group, keeping shoppers' cars cool while powering the centre.

In Rockhampton, Frenchville Sports Club put its car park to work with solar car shades, and near Cairns, Woree Plaza turned 200kW of rooftop solar into a new revenue stream. Our work with Officeworks in Queensland has cut store energy use by around 70% compared with a typical Queensland store.

Make the Most of Queensland Sunshine

Strong year-round sun means a well-designed commercial system in Queensland produces more energy than the same system further south. Pair it with battery storage and you can bank the midday surplus for the late afternoon, when grid prices and demand charges peak, and with Smart Stack battery monetisation your battery can earn revenue by supporting the grid.

Incentives and Finance

We check which government incentives your site may be eligible for as part of your energy analysis, and you can read more on our energy rebates and incentives page. Like CUB, you can also go solar through a Power Purchase Agreement with no upfront capital.

Brisbane Commercial Solar FAQs

Does Queensland heat reduce solar output?

Panels do lose a little efficiency on very hot days, and we factor that into every design and generation forecast. Queensland's long, bright days still make it one of the best places in the country for commercial solar.

Do you install outside Brisbane?

Yes. We work right across Queensland, from Ipswich and the Gold Coast corridor to Rockhampton and Cairns.

How much does commercial solar cost in Brisbane?

It depends on system size, roof or car park space and whether battery storage is included. We prepare a detailed energy analysis and financial model before you commit, and finance options can remove the upfront cost entirely.
