Commercial Solar and Battery Systems Built for Sydney
Sydney is really several energy markets in one. Out west, manufacturers and distribution centres run heavy loads under huge, flat roofs. Across the suburbs, clubs and pubs trade late into the night. Closer to the harbour, older buildings and apartment blocks have to make every square metre count. What they all share is a power bill that keeps rising, and demand charges that spike every time the city heats up.
We are headquartered in North Sydney and have been designing and installing commercial solar and battery systems across the city since 2012, so we know its networks, its councils and its rooftops. Every system we design starts with how your site actually uses energy.
Western Sydney: Our Industrial Heartland
Western Sydney is the engine room of the city's economy, and it is where we do much of our work. The factories and warehouses of Smithfield, Wetherill Park, Rydalmere, Kemps Creek and Marsden Park sit under some of the largest, flattest roofs in Sydney, and most of them run hardest through the middle of the day, exactly when solar produces the most. Add a battery and that solar keeps working into the afternoon shift, flattening the demand peaks that drive up network charges.
Our projects in the west include a 290kW system for Impact International in Smithfield, saving the manufacturer around $89,000 a year, an 800kW array for blinds maker Hunter Douglas in Rydalmere, and 1.75MW of solar with 808kWh of battery storage for Frasers Property at Kemps Creek, one of five projects we have delivered with Frasers since 2019.
Elsewhere in Sydney, Eastern Suburbs building materials manufacturer Etex now runs its factory on 962kW of rooftop solar, with EV charging on site.
Clubs, Pubs and Hotels
Sydney's clubs and pubs are some of the hungriest energy users in the city. Kitchens, cool rooms, air conditioning and gaming floors run for long hours, and the busiest trade often lands right on the evening peak. Solar takes care of the daytime load, and a battery carries cheaper stored energy into the evening when the room fills up.
We have installed 650kW at Castle Hill RSL, 190kW at Merrylands RSL (right), which now generates around 266MWh a year, and 496kW at the William Inglis Hotel in Warwick Farm, cutting its energy consumption by 30% with a 3.5-year payback. On the Northern Beaches, 4 Pines Brewery funded its 100kW system through a community-backed PPA and cut its energy use by 40%.

Inner Sydney and the Harbour
Closer to the city, roofs are smaller, buildings are older and heritage rules often apply, so careful engineering matters more than sheer size. We have delivered solar for Sydney landmarks including Bondi Pavilion, St Andrew's Cathedral in the CBD and the North Sydney Coal Loader. We also help strata committees and building managers bring solar and batteries to apartment blocks around the harbour, cutting the common-area power bills that every owner pays for.
Corporate campuses are another strong fit. AstraZeneca's Sydney headquarters now runs a 617kW solar car shade with four EV chargers, generating around 911MWh of clean energy a year from what used to be an ordinary car park.
NSW Incentives and Finance
NSW businesses may be able to offset part of the cost of battery storage through the state's Peak Demand Reduction Scheme (PDRS). We check what your site is eligible for as part of your energy analysis, and you can read more on our energy rebates and incentives page.
If you would rather keep capital in the business, a Power Purchase Agreement can deliver savings from day one with no upfront cost, and with Smart Stack battery monetisation your battery can earn revenue too.

650kW of rooftop solar taking the sting out of energy costs for one of the Hills District's busiest venues.
Sydney Commercial Solar FAQs
Can you put solar on a strata apartment building?
Yes. Common-area loads such as lifts, car park lighting, pumps and ventilation run all day, which suits solar well, and a battery can stretch the savings into the evening. We work with strata committees and building managers on the approvals, design and financial case, so owners can see the benefit before they vote.
Our factory roof is old. Can it still take solar?
Often, yes. We assess roof structure, condition and remaining life as part of every proposal. Where a roof can't carry panels, solar car shades or ground-mounted arrays can still get you there.
How much does commercial solar cost in Sydney?
It depends on system size, roof or ground space and whether battery storage is included. Before you commit to anything, we prepare a detailed energy analysis and financial model so you can see the expected savings and payback, and finance options can remove the upfront cost entirely.
